Who this applies to
This policy applies to the Barometer Reborn app and this website. Barometer Reborn is operated by Tomas Hubalek. For privacy questions, contact support@hubalek.net.
The app has no sign-in and does not ask for your name or email address. It does use app-generated identifiers in Meteo mode so that saved places, alerts and notification delivery work on the same installation. These identifiers distinguish an app installation; they are not an account.
Scientific mode: pressure measured on your phone
On an Android phone with a barometer, Scientific mode keeps pressure readings, their history and your settings on the device. This local sensor history is not uploaded to the Barometer Reborn service. You can delete measurements in the app or remove the app from your device.
Meteo mode: pressure data, saved places and alerts
On iPhone, and on devices using Meteo mode, the app sends the coordinates needed to request pressure data for an area. If you save a My Place, the service stores its name, coordinates and settings. If you create an alert, it stores the alert rule and the saved place it uses.
My Places are places you choose to follow, such as Prague or Kiruna. They are not a record of where you are or where you have been. The app does not use them to build a movement history.
Meteo mode configuration is associated with an app-generated Owner ID. For push alerts, the service also receives a Firebase Cloud Messaging token, an installation ID, platform and app version. These are used to operate alerts and distinguish installations, not to create a user account.
Location permission
Location permission is optional at the operating-system level, but its effect depends on the mode. In Scientific mode, it is an optional enhancement for sea-level pressure and place-related features. In Meteo mode, it is needed to automatically get pressure data for your current area.
Without location permission in Meteo mode, the app cannot automatically determine the pressure for where you are. You can still use My Places and receive alerts for those saved places. You can change the permission in system settings at any time.
Alerts and notifications
In Scientific mode, alert rules are evaluated on the device. In Meteo mode, alert rules are evaluated by the Barometer Reborn service so that a pressure-change notification can be sent even when the app is not open.
For Meteo mode alerts, the service records the outcome of an evaluation and, where available, whether the app reported that a notification was received or opened. This helps show alert history and diagnose delivery. Acceptance by Firebase does not prove that a notification was displayed on a device.
Ads, analytics and crash diagnostics
The free Android version uses Google Mobile Ads. Google and advertising partners may process technical and advertising identifiers, network information and ad interaction information to deliver and measure ads. Where required, the app shows a consent flow and makes available advertising privacy choices. Premium removes ads from the app.
The Android app uses Firebase Analytics for app usage events such as feature use, permission state and screen openings. It does not send raw pressure readings, saved-place names, alert text or coordinates in those app-specific events. Android also uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash and diagnostic reports so that bugs can be fixed. The iOS app does not currently show ads or send Barometer Reborn analytics events.
Google, Firebase and advertising partners process data under their own privacy information. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
Place search and purchases
When you search for a place, Android uses the configured Google Places service and iOS uses Apple MapKit. Those providers process the search request under their own terms and privacy information.
Premium purchases are processed by Google Play on Android and Apple StoreKit on iOS. Payment details are handled by the store, not by Barometer Reborn. The app receives the ownership result needed to unlock Premium.
Keeping and deleting Meteo mode data
You can remove My Places and alerts in the app. In Meteo mode, the next successful sync removes the corresponding active configuration from the service. A push token is removed when Firebase reports it is no longer valid.
To avoid keeping inactive configurations indefinitely, the service stops maintaining push delivery and active alert evaluation after extended inactivity. Its current configuration removes saved Meteo mode places and alerts after 180 days without an app check-in. Alert-evaluation history is scheduled for automatic deletion after 14 days; Firestore may complete that deletion shortly after the expiry time. These periods may change when the service is updated; this policy will be updated when a material change is made.
Your choices and sharing
Notifications and location are optional and can be changed in system settings. Export and sharing happen only when you choose them. The app you choose as the share destination then handles the shared content under its own privacy practices.
For a privacy question or a request about Meteo mode data, email support@hubalek.net. We may need the app-generated identifier shown by the app to find the relevant Meteo mode configuration.
This website
This site is static. If website analytics is enabled, Google Analytics is loaded with Google Consent Mode and analytics storage remains denied unless you choose Allow analytics in the banner. That choice is stored in your browser's local storage, not on this website's server. Declining analytics leaves the site functional.
Children
Barometer Reborn is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its services change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be reflected on this page before or when they take effect.
